Tea Cart [**SOLD**]

$0.00

Design influences whether I rescue a piece. Ninety-nine percent of the tea carts are the same boring design: big wheels on one end, little wheels on the other, drop leaves in between. With no style or energy, they look like a vintage shopping cart from Safeway’s predecessor (Ask me how I really feel!).

This cart’s design spoke to me; it has some chops!  The center axle provides a cool symmetry and the ability to literally rotate on a dime! Each corner is graced with a marvelously curved cabriole leg, with a nicely carved facing. The two tabletops refuse to show right angles and thus draw the eye around their edges.  The height/width proportions suggest motion even when at rest. This design is rare: I scoured Facebook Marketplace and Chairish and couldn’t find another one.

Structurally this piece was sound when I acquired it.  I did re-tire the small wheels with new rubber (Txs YouTuber Scott Bennett from Fixing Furniture!), and I tightened up the slack in the large wheel’s attachment.  Aesthetically I abandoned the brown wood-look to a bright color to appeal to today’s marketplace. After scuff sanding and priming, several coats of the teal were spayed-on followed by three coats of Minwax satin Polycrylic.

How will you use this tea cart (intended for indoor use only)?  To serve a traditional English Tea; as a Bar Cart; as a Coffee Station; as a plant stand (using trays under your flowerpots)?  For towels & supplies in the bath?  Whatever, I hope you enjoy the design!

 Dimensions:  31” L x 15” W x 27” H

$159. Cash, Venmo, PayPal accepted.
