Rolling TV Stand/Snack Tray [*SOLD*]
Where were you on March 6, 1965?
If this table could speak, it would tell us it was in Alta Vista, VA at the Lane Furniture Factory, in its final stage of being made. Every Lane Acclaim piece has a serial number and date of manufacture branded on the underside, and it confirms the vintage tag for this TV/Snack table.
This handsome piece in the iconic Acclaim series is made of elm and solid and veneer walnut. Millions of Mid-Century homes had rooms full of this furniture design, but one rarely sees this particular table for sale today. The veneer is in great shape, the joints are rock-solid, and it only needed a modest amount of sanding and refinishing to make the surfaces gleam like-new. The finish is a durable oil-based urethane wiping varnish. All pieces in the Acclaim series have the signature black-tipped legs, and these often suffer abuse, e.g., the original casters were missing when I acquired it. A vintage small-caster replacement set from the original hardware manufacturer was installed, giving a refined and graceful finish to the legs.
How could you use this table in your home? It works great at parties as a mobile table for snacks and hors d’oeuvres, and its two-tiered shelf design is a natural for a bar cart. Alternatively, it could serve as an entry way table for keys and mail in your front hall, or a compact end table or night table. It’s beautiful lines and finish deserve a prominent place somewhere in your home!
I’m again partnering with #Laurel Leaf in Takoma Park for you to see this piece and make your purchase in person. If you haven’t visited this store before, it has a delightful mix of Mid-Century furniture and home décor, vintage books and records, and gorgeous plants for your home.
Dimensions: 27” W x 12” D x 28.5” H
