Mahogany Credenza-Sideboard w/Desk [**SOLD**]
The size and features of this vintage restored mahogany credenza make it as versatile as a pocket knife! In the dining room, it can store linens and flatware, and function as a buffet top when serving guests. In the living room, its large drawers provide lots of extra storage in a small space, and the six shelves are wonderful spots to show off art treasures or store your favorite books. In the bedroom it can step up as a secondary dresser, and hold extra linens and towels if your adjoining bathroom doesn’t have enough storage space.
And surprise, surprise, in any room the top drawer slides forward and the face flips down to reveal a writing desk and several office cubbies for organizing your bills or important papers. Used in a front hall or family room you can use that desk area to store your keys, wallet, remotes, sunglasses or iPad out of sight, but always know where to find them in their new home. Really cool!
This piece is well built, with dovetailed solid wood drawers, fluted edging and moldings, and really exquisite mahogany veneers throughout. The finish was in very good condition when I acquired it and required only a good cleaning and polishing, along with some minor color touch- ups and waxing of the drawer runners. The ring-pull hardware is all original. Some glue for a few loose joints and veneer, and I was done with the restoration.
This unique and versatile piece can easily blend in with many décors. It has fairly progressive lines for a vintage piece of furniture and you could easily swap out the hardware to make for a very modern vibe if you like. Plus, it’s compact size will not overwhelm a room like many contemporary sideboards do. Given the quality of the construction and materials, it is a bargain at this price.
