Dresser & Night Table Makeover, [**SOLD**]

$0.00

These two well-built bedroom pieces were in decent condition when I bought them on behalf of a potential client, but they needed an updated design makeover. When the client walked away, I decided to try and mimic the current trendy Pottery Barn “Gray Wash” finish (see pix). Comparable dressers alone sell new for $1,700-$2,000.

After a thorough cleaning and replacement of a couple broken drawer guides, I started on the new finish by sealing all the knots with shellac and sanding smooth all the broken-up finish.  Both the Night Table and the dresser were then scuff sanded and primed before receiving a base coat of Sherwin-Williams “Outerbanks” acrylic paint. Varathane “Briarsmoke” gel stain was applied next, brushing it out with a deck brush to produce uniform striations. Finally, a stiff wallpaper brush cut back and removed some of the gel stain to let the paint show through, giving the desired textured look.

When dry I applied three coats of General Finishes High Performance Polyurethane Flat Topcoat.  I replaced the round wooden pulls with solid metal matte black drawer pulls and knobs to complete the modern upgraded look.

These pieces are being sold as a set.  They are like new, extremely clean, the drawers work effortlessly and the seven dresser drawers (four 6-inches deep, three 4-inches deep) will hold a voluminous amount of your wardrobe at a fraction of the cost of buying new. The Night Table drawers are 6-inches deep and will hold a ton as well. You will love them!

*Thanks to Shannon @BlackSheepHouse  for the Pottery Barn finishing technique! *

 Dimensions: Dresser 66” L x 18” W x 32” H
                       Night Table 26 ½” L x 18 W x 25 ½” H

$425. Cash, Venmo, PayPal accepted.
